Unlocking the Power of Active Investment Management: Wagner Award 2013 Competition
Unlocking the Secrets of Active Investment Management
A Golden Opportunity for Innovative Researchers
The National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM) has announced a call for papers for the 2013 Wagner Award, offering a grand prize of $10,000 for the best paper on advances in active investment management. This competition is open to all investment practitioners, academic faculty, and doctoral candidates, providing an excellent opportunity for researchers to showcase their work.
The Quest for Superior Risk-Adjusted Returns
NAAIM members strive for consistent outperformance using quantitatively or technically oriented investing strategies. This year's competition seeks papers that either document and justify a new investing approach or explore the validity of active investing itself. Topics can range from position sizing techniques, money management approaches, to trading exit strategies.
Proving the Power of Active Investing
An ideal submission would provide evidence of an active investment approach's validity through a trading system that outperforms the market in terms of risk-adjusted return, annual return, or drawdowns. Details such as backtesting and parameter sensitivity analysis are highly valued to allow practitioners to replicate the strategy.
A Panel of Scholars and Investment Professionals
A jury of experts will review entries and award prizes. The best paper will receive the Wagner Award, with second and third-place winners receiving $3,000 and $1,000 respectively. Honorable mentions or additional monetary prizes may also be awarded at the judges' discretion.
Shining on the National Stage
The grand prize winner will be invited to present their paper at the NAAIM annual conference, "NAAIM Uncommon Knowledge 2013," in Denver, Colorado. The winner will receive free conference attendance, U.S. air travel, and lodging expenses.
Submission Guidelines and Important Dates
All submitted papers should be recent, unpublished, and of a quality appropriate for publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal. The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2013, with awards being announced by March 31, 2013.
